Frank McNally MP has launched his annual programme of summer street surgeries, taking his advice service directly into communities across Coatbridge, Bellshill and the surrounding villages.
Throughout the parliamentary summer recess, Mr McNally will be visiting areas across the constituency, giving residents the opportunity to raise concerns, seek support and discuss local issues face-to-face.
Summer programme underway
Last summer, Mr McNally and his team spoke to hundreds of residents during his street surgeries and wrote to thousands more, ensuring people knew when he would be in their area and how they could get in touch. This year’s programme has already begun and will continue throughout the summer.
Residents urged to get in touch
Coatbridge and Bellshill MP Mr McNally said: "One of the best parts of my job is getting out into our communities and hearing directly from local people about the issues affecting our daily lives."
"Last summer I spoke to hundreds of residents through my street surgeries, and those conversations directly shaped the work I took back to Westminster and raised with local agencies. I’m delighted to be taking my street surgeries back out into our communities once again."
"Whether someone needs help with a personal case, wants to discuss a local issue or simply has an idea about how we can improve our area, I want to hear from them."
Monklands Hospital concerns
Mr McNally expects one issue to feature prominently during this year’s visits: the future of Monklands Hospital. He added: "Since the Scottish Government’s decision to indefinitely pause the replacement of Monklands Hospital, I’ve heard from many local people who are angry and deeply concerned about what this means for patients and staff."
"I know this issue will be raised on the doorstep throughout the summer, and I’ll continue making the case for the investment our community has been promised for far too long."
Residents will receive information by letter as Mr McNally visits communities across the constituency over the coming weeks.
