One simple trick is to apply cling film to windows. Construction expert Clive Holland recommends this method, noting it prevents condensation and blocks draughts when sealed with a hairdryer. A pack of 3m insulating film is available on Amazon for £8.30.
Sealing cracks in window frames, floorboards, or skirting boards is another effective measure. White sealants from Screwfix start at £3.79, while wood flooring sealant costs £4.99. Self-adhesive rubber seal for doors or windows is priced at £6.50 at Wickes.
Don't overlook the letterbox; a cover for as little as £5.99 on Amazon can prevent cold air entering. Similarly, door snakes or draught excluders can be bought for under £10, or made at home using fabric filled with dried peas or rice.
