Stirling winger Harry Wright is ready to take the lessons learned from the Lowland League school of hard knocks and apply them as he aims to impress his new manager and stake a claim in the Binos’ starting 11. The former Hibs youngster had a promising start to his career at Forthbank before being loaned out to Berwick Rangers at the start of last season in an effort to provide more valued game time in a fledgling career.
Successful Loan Spell at Berwick
The stint at Shielfield worked a dream for the 20-year-old as he became a first-team regular for the Wee Rangers, scooping end-of-season awards for his performances. He notched seven goals and six assists across 23 appearances during an impressive stay over the border. According to Wright, the experience of playing men's football regularly has set him in good stead for the upcoming season.
Competition for Places
Now fully focused on making his mark back in a Stirling shirt, Wright faces stiff competition from new arrivals Barry Hepburn and player-coach Josh Mullin, who are also vying for wide berths. However, Wright believes the confidence from his season last time around can translate to performances on the pitch. He praised Mullin's attitude on and off the pitch as an inspiration, saying, "Josh has been great so far, being able to see what he does in training and carries himself, it’s about what I learn and then adapt for my own game."
Pre-Season Progress
The Binos were back in action behind closed doors last night, falling to a 2-1 defeat away at League One side Airdrieonians. The midweek match followed the weekend's Stirlingshire Cup warm-ups, with a visit to Lowland League Tranent scheduled for tomorrow. Wright expressed optimism about the season under new gaffer Steven Whittaker, stating, "The new manager has been really organised and been working us hard over the pre-season and if things continue, then I can see us having a good season."
Player Departures
Three players from last season's group will not be involved: midfielders MacKenzie Carse and Cooper Knox, as well as forward Dale Hilson. A statement on the Albion website confirmed the trio would be leaving the club after not being offered new deals at Forthbank.
