Benjamin Sesko has sent a brief but reassuring message to Manchester United supporters after recovering from the shin injury that cut short his debut season. The Slovenia international, who joined United from RB Leipzig for £73 million last summer, posted on Instagram: "Rested. Refreshed. Back to preparing for the season."
Sesko's Injury and Recovery
Sesko missed United's final three Premier League matches of the 2025-26 season after picking up a shin injury during the 3-2 victory over Liverpool at the start of May. The 22-year-old had scored 11 Premier League goals in his first campaign at Old Trafford before the setback. His latest social media post suggests he is now fully fit and ready to join pre-season training.
Future Role at Manchester United
Despite recent speculation linking Sesko with a move to Barcelona, the Manchester Evening News understands that the forward is set for a more prominent role in his second season at the club. However, United legend Gary Pallister has urged the club's hierarchy to sign an experienced striker this summer who can mentor Sesko. "I think they maybe need another centre-forward. [Benjamin] Sesko did alright last year, but I think he's still got a bit to learn as he's still a young kid," Pallister told NewBettingSites. "I think someone with a bit more maturity than Sesko would be ideal for the centre-forward slot to fight with him for the position."
Pallister's Praise for Carrick
Pallister also expressed optimism about Michael Carrick's appointment as manager, drawing comparisons to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's tenure. "I think a lot of people at Manchester United are really happy that Michael Carrick has got the job," he said. "Michael's come in and he's got good results. I think he's brought a resilience into the team. I think he knows what United fans want."
