A reporter flying with Ryanair from Manchester Airport discovered that cabin crew receive only four free bottles of water per flight — no free meals and no discount on in-flight food.
Amy Fenton, a senior reporter at LancsLive, observed cabin crew eating Ryanair's own in-flight meals during a break at the back of the Boeing 737 on a flight in August. When she asked if they got free food onboard, one crew member replied "Nope." Asked about a discount, the response was again "Nope."
Crew member's reply
"All we get is four free bottles of water per flight," the crew member told her. Fenton noted that cabin crew are unlikely to be allowed to bring their own takeaway leftovers onboard and probably have no facilities to reheat food from home.
Reporter's reaction
Fenton, who described the airline as "like the Asda's own brand minced beef of airlines," said the lack of employee benefits is another reason she will opt to fly with any other airline if she has the choice. LancsLive made several attempts to contact Ryanair and described the nature of the article, but Ryanair failed to respond.
