The Royal Collection Trust, the charity responsible for one of the world's finest art collections and overseeing public access to royal residences including Buckingham Palace and Windsor Castle, is hiring a social media officer. The permanent position offers a starting salary of up to £34,000 a year.

Role based at St James's Palace

The social media officer will work within a small, creative team based at St James's Palace, tasked with producing compelling content across social media platforms aimed at attracting, engaging, and retaining worldwide audiences. Essential requirements include experience managing social media channels and cultivating online communities, alongside a solid grasp of what generates engagement across various platforms.

Applicants must demonstrate excellent written communication abilities and feel comfortable producing visual-led content, shooting and editing short-form video on a mobile device, and working with editing software such as CapCut, Canva or Premiere Pro. The successful applicant will also be at ease using social media management and analytics platforms and possess a "creative eye for design and content presentation".

Additional requirements and benefits

Among other requirements, an enthusiasm for the arts, heritage or cultural sector would be advantageous, along with experience collaborating with creators, influencers or within a comparable organisation.

The position includes 25 days annual leave, increasing to 30 days, plus bank holidays. There's also an 'excellent' non-contributory pension scheme, complimentary lunch on-site, and 'other perks'.
