Little Caesars closes last UK restaurant after 41 years

Little Caesars has closed its last restaurant in the UK, ending its presence in the British market. The final site, in West London, shut its doors just weeks ago.

History in the UK

The US pizza chain first opened in the UK in 1985, but closed all of its British sites by the year 2000. It returned in the 2020s, opening a restaurant in Derby in 2022 and another in Greenford, West London in 2024.

Little Caesars was founded in Detroit in 1959 and originally operated as a single restaurant run by a family. As of 2026, it operates 4,824 restaurants across the US.

Expansion plans

Just two years ago, the brand described the UK as a "key market for global expansion." In 2024, Paula Vissing, Little Caesars' chief operating officer, said the group planned to open more sites across the UK. Jeremy Vitaro, the chief development officer, said in 2024 that the brand planned to capitalise on the growing momentum in the UK pizza industry and invited people to express interest in setting up franchise restaurants.

The brand has expanded outside the US, with new restaurants across Europe, the Middle East, Asia Pacific and Canada.

Customer reviews

Little Caesars had received relatively positive reviews from customers in recent years. Reviews for its Derby site were particularly good, with one customer writing on Google that the prices and quality of the food are both good. Another said: "I am so glad this US pizza chain came over to England, offering an outlet that smashes contenders like Domino's and Pizza Hut!"

The company has not confirmed why the closures took place or whether other restaurants would open in Britain. The closure comes as several other high street restaurants have downsized their UK presence, including Pizza Hut, which closed more than 60 of its British sites in a major restructure.
