Celtic manager Martin O'Neill has backed record signing Kasper Hogh to reach 20 goals this season despite the Danish striker's current barren run. The £11million arrival from Bodo/Glimt has not scored in 13 matches for club or country since his hat-trick at Kilmarnock in the second game of the season.
Faith in the No. 9
Fans have demanded a higher return after the Hoops paid £11million to bring Hogh to Glasgow. Colombian forward Camilo Duran, who cost just over half that from Qarabag, has scored more than double Hogh's tally and has been backed to lead the line until the Dane rediscovers his scoring touch.
But O'Neill remains confident in his No. 9, telling Sky Sports: "At the end of the season, I expect Kasper Hogh to score 20 goals. He has lost a bit of confidence; we will get that back during the course of time."
Baur Injury Update
O'Neill also confirmed that German international Mika Baur suffered a dead leg during the 4-1 Europa League defeat to Benfica in Lisbon. The midfielder was withdrawn during the match but is hopeful of being involved against Hearts this afternoon.
O'Neill added: "Obviously we travelled back on Friday. Mika had a dead leg at the time. We'll see how he is today. I'm sure he'll want to play."
The clash with Hearts will come too soon for Cameron Carter-Vickers, who could return away to Hibs next weekend.
