Charlie Ireland has become a beloved figure on Clarkson's Farm, but his life away from the cameras remains largely private. Here is everything you need to know about the agricultural advisor, from his long-term relationship to his charitable work.
Charlie Ireland's Partner and Family Life
Charlie has been with his partner, Catherine, for approximately 22 years. The couple met at university but only began their relationship after reconnecting in London. They have chosen not to marry, with Charlie stating, "It's never been on either of our agendas." He admitted to being a "non-conformer" at heart, despite his conformist appearance.
The couple shares two teenage sons. On the website for his agricultural consultancy firm Ceres Rural, Charlie's biography notes: "He loves spending time with his family and will soon struggle to come to terms with the fact his sons are faster, stronger and hit a cricket ball further than he can!" The family relocated from London approximately a decade ago.
Charlie Ireland's Role on Clarkson's Farm
Charlie has worked with Jeremy Clarkson since 2009, shortly after the former Top Gear host purchased Diddly Squat Farm. On the show, he is ironically nicknamed "Cheerful Charlie" for delivering unwelcome news. In the latest series, he revealed that the farm recorded its first loss due to poor weather, and he assessed underwhelming crops of onions, barley, and wheat.
Charitable Work with the MND Association
Beyond the farm, Charlie serves as an ambassador for the Motor Neurone Disease (MND) Association. His father, Christopher, died from the condition in 2011 at age 67. Charlie regularly organizes fundraising events and participated in the charity's New Year's challenge to complete 31 miles in January.
Clarkson's Farm Season 5 is streaming on Prime Video now.
