Tragic Accident Claims Life of Village Baker
A community in central Greece is in mourning after a local baker was killed in a horrific accident at her own bakery. The incident occurred on Thursday morning in the village of Damasi, near the city of Larissa.
The victim, a 49-year-old woman named Zoe, was strangled to death when the scarf she was wearing became caught in the mechanism of a bread-making machine. She was reportedly cleaning the equipment in preparation for making a new batch of bread when the tragedy unfolded.
A Devastating Discovery
Speaking to the Greek news outlet Protothema, a woman who discovered the scene shared harrowing details. "She was standing over the bread-maker," the witness recounted. "The scarf she was wearing around her neck was caught in the machine."
The witness expressed her profound shock and grief, stating, "It's a shame and unfair. I've been shaking since morning, I can't believe it, I don't want to believe that our Zoe is gone." Emergency services were called immediately but were unable to save Zoe.
A Family Tragedy and a Wider Warning
The loss is compounded by further family tragedy, as it is reported that Zoe's mother had also recently passed away. She is survived by her two children. Local police have opened an investigation to determine the exact circumstances surrounding her death.
