PSG Gains Edge in Champions League with Whoop Wearable

Paris Saint-Germain have announced a long-term partnership with health and fitness wearable brand WHOOP, aiming to enhance player performance in their UEFA Champions League campaign. The deal, running until 2029, will provide both the men's and women's squads with cutting-edge performance science to optimise training and recovery.

WHOOP's screen-free device offers round-the-clock insights into sleep, recovery, strain, and heart rate variability, among other metrics. The technology is already used by top athletes including Liverpool captain Virgil van Dijk, Masters champion Rory McIlroy, and Cristiano Ronaldo, who said in a video on WHOOP's website that he uses the device 'every single day'.

The partnership was unveiled as PSG prepare for their Champions League semi-final second leg against Bayern Munich. WHOOP's vice president of global marketing, Brian Curtin, said: 'Paris Saint-Germain is one of the most influential brands in the world. Partnering with PSG puts WHOOP at the centre of that influence, reaching new audiences while aligning with a club that sets the standard for excellence.'

WHOOP claims that daily users gain more than 90 additional minutes of exercise per week, over two extra hours of sleep, and a 10% higher heart rate variability. The device is available for a one-month free trial alongside the Peak membership programme.
