POD Haulage Limited, a London-based freight company, has appointed liquidators and entered creditors' voluntary liquidation. The news was published in the London Gazette on July 27, following a winding-up order on July 6.
Liquidation Details
The company, incorporated on February 17, 2012, is located in Wembley, North London. James Dowers and Jack Plunkett of RSM UK Restructuring Advisory have been appointed as liquidators. Companies House lists the business's status as "in liquidation". It is not yet known what this means for staff or potential job cuts.
Other Haulage Firms Affected
Several other haulage firms have also fallen into insolvency this summer. J.M. Gorry & Son Limited, based in Morecambe, appointed administrators on July 20. T.M.S Service Provider Limited, based in Rayleigh, appointed liquidators on July 13, with a notice in the London Gazette on July 21. Berkshire-based Gibbs Transport Limited appointed liquidators on June 30.
Industry Warnings
The Road Haulage Association (RHA) has previously warned that hundreds of firms were at risk of closing. David Boot, RHA External Affairs Director, said: "While insolvency rates have slowed slightly, they remain far too high and well above pre-pandemic levels. The numbers tell a sobering story: nearly 400 hauliers went out of business last year, 470 the year before, and over 500 in 2023." The RHA admitted insolvencies were "tipped to rise" in 2026.
