Scott Parker's Burnley future uncertain after Premier League relegation
Parker's Burnley future in doubt after relegation

Scott Parker's future as Burnley manager is uncertain after the club's relegation from the Premier League. The 45-year-old is set to hold discussions with chairman Alan Pace to determine whether he will remain in charge for next season.

No decision yet

No final decision has been made, and it is understood that Parker is unsure about continuing. With one year left on his contract, he may seek an amicable parting with the club.

Parker's tenure

Parker replaced Vincent Kompany in July 2024 following Burnley's previous relegation. He successfully guided the team back to the Premier League in his first season, winning promotion. However, Burnley struggled in the top flight this campaign, and a 1-0 home defeat to Manchester City last Wednesday confirmed an immediate return to the Championship.

Parker remained noncommittal about his future last week, stating: "This season has been a huge challenge for us. Discussions about what we need to do as a football club will take place in due course."

Potential replacements

If Parker leaves, Steven Gerrard may be a candidate for Pace. Gerrard, formerly of Rangers and Aston Villa, left Al-Ettifaq by mutual consent in January 2025. Craig Bellamy, who served as Kompany's assistant at Burnley, is also admired by Pace, but he may be reluctant to leave his position as Wales head coach.
