GMB delivers humiliating blow to Chancellor John Healey

Good Morning Britain returned to screens on Thursday (August 13) and delivered a humiliating blow to Chancellor John Healey. After Andy Burnham became Prime Minister, he appointed the politician to take over the role previously held by Rachel Reeves for two years.

Economic figures disappoint

During the ITV programme, presenter Ranvir Singh warned: "The Chancellor may want to look away" as she informed viewers about the slow-moving economic growth. She shared: "Figures from the Office for National Statistics show the economy grew by just 0.3% in June."

Reasons for slow growth

As for the reasons for this, Ranvir added: "The conflict in the Middle East is being partly blamed for the slow growth and poor figures, but there was also disappointing news from industries such as hospitality. People did not spend more going out, despite the World Cup taking place."
