Everton for sale: Friedkin Group open to full sale

The Friedkin Group (TFG) is open to a full sale of Everton as it seeks external investment, the club confirmed on Friday morning. In a statement, Everton said TFG is exploring new investment options, including the potential sale of a controlling interest.

Statement confirms sale option

TFG completed its purchase of Farhad Moshiri’s 94.1% stake in the club in December 2024 and oversaw the move from Goodison Park to the new Hill Dickinson Stadium. The statement said that when TFG became custodians, the club faced significant financial uncertainty and challenges both on and off the pitch.

The immediate priority was to provide the stability, investment and support needed to secure the club’s future, including helping to bring the long-promised stadium to completion for its supporters. With that foundation in place, the club says the time is right to consider the next chapter for Everton.

Next steps

The statement added that TFG will only entertain interest from parties it strongly believes will be the right stewards to take the club forward and build on the momentum that has been established. TFG’s focus will remain unchanged, supporting the club to achieve success on the pitch and continuing efforts to make a positive difference in the communities the club serves.

David Moyes is expected to be asked about the statement in his press conference on Friday afternoon.
