Michael Carrick has stated that clarity over his future as Manchester United head coach will arrive "pretty soon," as negotiations intensify regarding a contract extension beyond the current season.
Contract Talks Underway
The 44-year-old has exceeded expectations since stepping in as interim manager for the remainder of the campaign, replacing Ruben Amorim. Under his guidance, United have climbed to third place in the Premier League and secured Champions League qualification with three matches to spare.
This success has transformed Carrick from a temporary solution into the club's preferred choice to lead the team into next season. Contract discussions are now in progress, with reports suggesting a two-year deal, including an option for an additional season, has been proposed.
The Press Association understands that an agreement is being actively worked on, with a potential resolution before Sunday's home fixture against Nottingham Forest at Old Trafford.
Carrick's Comments
Speaking about his future, Carrick said: "Listen, the future for me is going to be decided pretty soon. We knew that was going to be towards the end of the season, if not the end of the season, so nothing’s changed.
"There’s no big swing on that, that is what it is, and obviously whatever’s beyond that is pretty close round the corner anyway."
The former United midfielder has impressed the club's hierarchy with his tactical acumen and man-management skills, leading to widespread support from players and fans alike.
