A holidaymaker was left astonished after purchasing two drinks at the Las Vegas Sphere, only to be presented with a bill totalling $74.31 (£54.89). The receipt, shared on social media, showed the cost of a 'Chesney' Coors Light on draught at $20 (£14.78), a double Bacardi at $34 (£25.12), and a 'Chesney' cup for $3 (£2.22).
Additional charges included Nevada sales tax of $2.62 (£1.94) and Clark County levy of $2.15 (£1.59), bringing the subtotal to $61.77 (£45.62). A tip of $12.54 (£9.26) pushed the final amount to $74.31.
The eye-watering price sparked debate on Facebook, with users expressing disbelief. One commented: 'What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas but, the cost of drinks is outrageous everywhere in the U.S.' Another said: 'Wtf that's ridiculous why are they charging so much? They must never get repeating customers.'
Some defended the pricing, noting that the Sphere is a major tourist attraction. One user observed: 'That's because you went to a tourist attraction, that's where they cost lots of money.' Another added: 'This is inside the Sphere... It's the same as buying drinks in any arena. They always overcharge at arenas or events.'
