A Vinted user has revealed the unexpected items she has successfully sold on the second-hand marketplace, from Happy Meal toys to toilet roll tubes. Rebecca Koncienzcy, a content editor for Reach PLC, shared her experience of selling unusual goods on the app, which she describes as similar to eBay but easier to use.
Among the surprising bestsellers were McDonald's Happy Meal toys, which she sold for up to £5 each, particularly Squishmallow plushies and Friends-themed figures. She also made over £100 from selling her old 1990s Polly Pocket toys, despite them being well-loved and battered. Childhood VHS tapes, especially horror movies, fetched nearly £20 when bundled together.
Other unexpected items included branded bags and empty charm boxes, which she listed for £1.50 after seeing others sell similar items. Even a McDonald's receipt with the order number 067 sold for £6.70, riding on the popularity of a meme. Toilet roll tubes, used for crafting or as firelighters, can also be sold in bulk for around £2.
Rebecca advises that almost anything can find a buyer on Vinted, as one person's trash is another's treasure. She encourages users to think creatively about what they might sell, from old toys to everyday packaging.
