Shopping expert Jordon Cox, widely known as the 'Coupon King' from ITV's This Morning, has unveiled a simple supermarket hack that could save shoppers hundreds of pounds on their grocery bills. The money-saving tip, shared on his popular YouTube channel @CouponKingUK, involves making a 'secret swap' by checking different aisles for the same food items.
The Aisle Comparison Strategy
Jordon Cox explained that consumers can significantly reduce their spending by comparing prices between the fresh food sections and freezer aisles. Using Tesco as a primary example, he demonstrated how identical products often carry different price tags depending on their location within the store.
Substantial Price Differences
"These secret swaps in the supermarket can save you hundreds," Jordon claimed in his video. "This ready meal in the fresh section is £3.50. The same thing in the frozen aisle is £2." He provided another compelling example: "Fresh pizza without a Clubcard is £3.25. But in the freezer section, £1.75 for the same pizza."
In the comments section beneath his video, Jordon humorously noted about the packaging: "They could've at least TRIED to make the packaging look different."
Viewer Reactions and Insights
The tip received mixed but largely positive responses from viewers. One enthusiastic commenter wrote: "Thanks Jordon, I knew they did a price difference on the fridge and shelf soya milk." Another supporter added: "Its more or less the exact same."
However, some viewers offered cautious advice about verifying product similarities. One response stated: "They might not actually be the same. You need to read the ingredients list. They technically could be different even with the same list, due to proportions, but it will likely reveal the truth or close to it."
Previous Money-Saving Revelation
This isn't the first time Jordon Cox has shared insider knowledge about supermarket savings. In a previous video last year, he revealed a secret code system at Tesco that helps shoppers identify discount expiration dates.
Decoding Tesco's Clubcard Prices
Jordon explained: "On an item with a Clubcard Price, look for a six digit number starting with 'twenty five'. If you read the numbers in reverse - it'll tell you the expiry date of the deal: Last two numbers: Day. Middle two: Month. First two: Year."
He advised regular shoppers: "If it's an item you buy pretty regularly, you can see when it expires... so you know when you'll need to stock up! If you can avoid paying full price, you'll save a bit of cash on your shopping trips!"
Viewers expressed appreciation for this insight, with one fan declaring: "This information changed my life." Another commented: "I didn't know about this," while someone added: "Did not know that thank you."
Jordon Cox continues to establish himself as a leading authority on consumer savings, providing practical strategies that help households manage rising grocery costs through simple but effective supermarket navigation techniques.
