Sainsbury's expands Nectar points to Uber Eats orders
Sainsbury's Nectar points now available on Uber Eats

Sainsbury's customers can now collect Nectar points when ordering groceries through Uber Eats, as part of a major expansion of the loyalty scheme. From today, shoppers earn one Nectar point for every £1 spent on eligible Sainsbury's products via the Uber Eats app or website.

To receive points, customers must enter their full Nectar card number at checkout. Points cannot be awarded retrospectively, so shoppers who forget to add their details will miss out. Once added, qualifying points are credited to the account within 28 days, with a minimum spend of £1 applying.

Rollout across more than 1,300 stores

The new collection option is available through participating Sainsbury's stores on Uber Eats, covering over 1,300 locations across the UK. This means customers using the rapid-delivery service for fresh food, household essentials or last-minute purchases can now earn rewards on their orders.

However, several products are excluded from earning points, including gift vouchers, baby milk, lottery tickets, tobacco, vapes, nicotine products, proprietary medicines, spirits and liqueurs. Additional restrictions apply to alcohol purchases in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.

Extended Nectar and Uber partnership

The launch builds on the existing relationship between Nectar and Uber, which already allows members to exchange points for vouchers covering Uber journeys and Uber Eats orders. Customers can therefore collect Nectar points when buying Sainsbury's groceries through Uber Eats and later exchange their balance for an Uber voucher.

To redeem points, members should open the Nectar app, visit the “Partners” section and select Uber. Katie Hunter, Uber Eats general manager for grocery and retail in the UK, said: “We know how much Uber Eats customers love Nectar, so bringing points directly to their Sainsbury’s orders was a no-brainer. Now, they can collect Nectar points on all their Sainsbury’s essentials as well as spending them across the entire Uber app. It’s all about delivering flexibility, convenience and value for customers right alongside their favourite groceries.”

Mark Given, Sainsbury’s chief technology, marketing and data officer, said the expansion would give Nectar members another way to receive value from the partnership. He added: “Nectar members can already turn their points into Uber rides or Uber Eats treats – and now they can collect points when ordering Sainsbury’s groceries through Uber Eats too. It’s another way we’re helping customers get more from Nectar, whether they’re stocking up on essentials, planning dinner or making everyday life that little bit easier.”
