Rimmel, the brand that invented commercial mascara in 1830, has launched a new formula promising instant impact. The Thrill Seeker Extreme Mascara, priced at £12.99, aims to deliver length and volume in a single sweep, building on the company's long history in eye makeup.
The mascara features a tapered fibre brush designed to coat individual lashes. In testing, two coats achieved the desired effect, with application taking around 10 seconds. The formula did not go on clumpy, leaving lashes looking individually lengthened and fanned out. However, it takes slightly longer to dry than premium alternatives, so care is needed to avoid smudging in the first few minutes.
The rich black pigment draws attention to the eyes, and while the brand claims up to five times more volume, the formula appears more lengthening and curling than volumising. It contains synthetic beeswax for texture and hold, carnauba wax for a glossy finish, and panthenol to keep lashes soft. Some clumping was noted towards the end of the day, particularly when layered with additional product.
