Jon Rahm is set to depart LIV Golf after his lawyer told a bankruptcy court hearing that the terms proposed for LIV 2.0 were "unacceptable". The Saudi-backed golf league filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection after funding was withdrawn from the Middle East. However, attempts are being made to continue with the 2027 season, courtesy of possible $300m in financing from BC Partners Credit.
Rahm's lawyer confirms separation talks
Rahm will not be part of that, with his lawyer John Beck telling the hearing that the Spaniard "independently reviewed the terms of LIV 2.0 and determined those terms are unacceptable as to him". It was also claimed that LIV and Rahm's representatives are "in advanced discussions for a consensual separation agreement between Mr Rahm and LIV".
Players owed $45m
Rahm is among the players owed $45m (£33m), but they all have the option to leave. Further updates are expected as the bankruptcy proceedings continue.
