Julie Hopwood, 65, was cradling her new grandchild when she received a cheque for £125,000 from the Postcode Lottery, calling the experience a "week from heaven".
The B&B landlady from Surrey shared £1m with five other neighbours in the village of Send after GU23 7AJ landed the lottery's weekly Millionaire Street prize on Saturday 1 August. Every ticket was worth £125,000, but one player tripled their winnings by playing with three tickets.
Hopwood said: "I got a phone call when I was at my daughter’s house on her due date to pick up my other grandson. But I didn’t believe it. I put the phone down and said to my daughter, ‘did that really happen?’"
"Having a grandson and then winning £125,000 is just fantastic, amazing…a dream come true. I’m never going to forget this week."
Julie and her husband Shaun, 75, plan to use some of the money to support their growing family, which now includes two-year-old Henry, five-month-old Arthur and the newborn Jack. She said: "I’ve gone from having no grandchildren to having three in a short space of time. I’d like to put a little bit aside for when the grandchildren are older and maybe help their parents out. We’ll have to sit down and work it out."
How the Postcode Lottery works
The Postcode Lottery, formerly People's Postcode Lottery, costs £12.50 a month to play and there are guaranteed winners every day. Players use their chosen postcode and are automatically entered into all draws.
Seven Greater Manchester postcodes each scooped £1,000 over the last seven days: WN4 9RE, SK8 3AY, M23 2TU, M22 5DB, WA9 5QB, M40 9BZ, and M33 7BN.
