A popular shampoo and conditioner set has been urgently recalled from the market due to a serious chemical risk, with customers strongly advised to stop using the products immediately. The Office for Product Safety and Standards issued a formal recall notice for the Pilgrim Anti-Dandruff Shampoo and Conditioner Set, which was removed from Amazon last month.
Details of the Recall
The recall specifically affects products with the code HS5130 Jul 2025 395.00 1.98. Amazon listings for the shampoo and conditioner carried the codes B0D5DBM7G7 and B0D5D9BF3Q respectively. These items typically retail for between £12 and £20 on online marketplaces.
Chemical Concerns
The OPSS stated that the product presents a serious chemical risk because it contains Zinc Pyrithione, which is prohibited for use in cosmetic products under European regulations. Additionally, the products contain undeclared allergens including hydroxycitronellal, hexyl cinnamal, and limonene.
"This could lead to consumers with sensitivities using these products and having an allergic reaction," warned the safety agency in their official notice.
Regulatory Violations
The products fail to meet the requirements of Regulation (EC) No 1223/2009 on Cosmetic Products. Authorities have removed the items from Amazon and rejected shipments at the UK border. Consumers who possess the Pilgrim Anti-Dandruff Shampoo and Conditioner Set are urged to check product labels to determine if their items are included in the recall.
Second Beauty Product Recall
This recall follows another recent beauty product withdrawal. Hello Sunday's The One for Your Eyes Eye Cream SPF 50 has been recalled after failing to meet the SPF levels stated on its label.
Eye Cream Safety Issues
The eye cream, which comes in a mint green container with pink branding and was manufactured in Spain, may fail to provide adequate sun protection. This could increase the risk of sun-related skin damage for users.
"While we have not received reports of any incidents related to this issue, we are proactively and voluntarily recalling The One For Your Eyes-eye cream SPF 50 effective immediately," stated Hello Sunday representatives.
Refund Information
All batches of the eye cream are affected by the recall. Customers who purchased the product through Hello Sunday's website, Boots, or TK Maxx are eligible for refunds. Specifically, items bought from TK Maxx between December 2025 and February 2026 with the code 079989 are included in the recall.
The company emphasized that this recall is being conducted "out of an abundance of caution to ensure full consumer safety as well as product compliance and efficacy."
