Only Pan vs Always Pan: £30 vs £125 Comparison

Lakeland's 8-in-1 Only Pan is currently available for £29.99, down from its original £59.99 price, offering a 50% saving on a versatile cooking pan. The pan provides eight cooking functions, including steaming, pan-frying, boiling, and stir-frying, and is often compared to the popular Our Place Always Pan, which retails for £125.

Shoppers can also benefit from free standard delivery on all orders from Lakeland for a limited time, making the deal even more attractive.

Side-by-Side Test

Lucy Addicott of The Mirror tested both pans, cooking a variety of dishes such as curry, steamed vegetables, and fried bacon. She noted differences in cooking speeds, non-stick functionality, and aesthetics.

While the pans look similar, the Always Pan offers two extra functions—roast and bake—and has a higher oven-safe temperature limit of 230°C, compared to the Only Pan's 150°C limit. This difference proved significant when cooking a chicken pie: Lucy had to transfer the filling to another oven-safe dish, adding extra washing up and effort.

Capacity and Performance

The Only Pan has a larger capacity of 3.1L and a diameter of 26cm, making it bigger than the Always Pan (2.46L, 26.7cm). Lucy found the extra space useful for cooking multi-ingredient dishes and for larger families, though she noted that the Always Pan's smaller size may suffice for one or two people.

In terms of performance, both pans steamed vegetables and dumplings equally well, and boiling, simmering, sautéing, and stir-frying were similar experiences, with even cooking results.

Verdict

Lucy concluded that the choice between the two pans depends on personal cooking style and needs. She valued the Always Pan's versatility and aesthetic appeal, considering it a worthwhile investment for frequent cooks. However, she recommended the Only Pan as an excellent, more affordable alternative for those who don't need baking functionality or prefer its appearance.
