Nationwide building society has confirmed that certain members must contact it by Monday, June 8 if they wish to opt out of the Fairer Share Payment scheme.
The building society is proceeding with the scheme for the fourth consecutive year, issuing a one-off £100 payment to approximately 4.4 million eligible members. Funds are scheduled to arrive in accounts by June 30.
Nationwide stated: 'We are a building society not a bank, which means we can do things differently. Unlike our banking peers, we share some of our profits with eligible members. We will do this by making a one-off payment of £100 to those who qualify.'
Members who opt out will not be able to reverse their decision. Those who declined the payment in 2023, 2024 or 2025 must still notify Nationwide if they wish to opt out again this year.
