Draw times and format
The Lotto numbers were drawn at 8pm, with the Thunderball numbers following shortly after. Players should note that each line of numbers is entered into one draw and played over two rounds, giving two chances to win. This means roughly a one in 4.9 chance of winning a prize in every draw.

The biggest ever Lotto winner was created in April 2016 when an anonymous player banked £35 million. In January 2016, two ticketholders each won £33 million. Earlier, in January 1996, a jackpot of £42,008,610 was split between three anonymous winners, each receiving £14,002,870. A single ticket won £26.4 million on New Year's Eve in 2016.
How the lottery contributes
The UK National Lottery was first drawn on November 19, 1994. Half of all money spent by players goes to the prize fund, with 28% to good causes, 12% to the UK Government as duty, 5% to retailers, and 5% to the operator.
