A mother from south London has described her shock and disgust after she claims she caught an Uber Eats driver red-handed, consuming the McDonald's breakfast she had ordered for herself.
The Suspicious Delivery Tracking
Bianca Green, a 36-year-old mother of three from Croydon, had ordered a treat for herself after dropping her children at school. Using the Uber Eats app tracker, she watched as her driver initially came within two minutes of her location, only for the estimated arrival time to suddenly jump to five minutes and the driver's icon to move further away.
Growing suspicious, Bianca decided to take matters into her own hands. She got into her car and set off to find her order, a double sausage and egg McMuffin meal worth approximately £16.
The Roadside Confrontation
What Bianca discovered left her speechless. She allegedly found the delivery rider standing next to his bicycle, with her McDonald's order in hand. In footage she recorded, the driver can be seen clutching a McDonald's cup, which Bianca insists was part of her purchase.
"Why would you stop at McDonald's, pick up my food, and then stop and eat it," Bianca can be heard asking the man in the video. The driver offered an explanation, claiming he had suffered an injury and had no energy. He also offered to buy her a replacement meal, an offer she refused.
Bianca stated she had no compassion for his story, noting he was holding the cup in one hand and his phone in the other, seemingly contradicting his claim of a hand injury. The confrontation occurred near her home in Croydon on Tuesday, November 11.
Aftermath and Company Response
Following the incident, Bianca reported the driver to Uber Eats and sent them photographic evidence. She has since received a full refund for her order from McDonald's.
An Uber Eats spokesperson responded, stating: "What's described is unacceptable and our specialist team are urgently investigating this matter." The company reiterated that all couriers undergo background checks and any found to be in breach of community guidelines or acting unlawfully face appropriate action, including removal from the app.
Reflecting on the bizarre event, Bianca expressed her continued disbelief. "I really didn't think I would get there and see him eating it," she said, adding that the experience was so surreal it was almost "hilarious" to her friends and family.
