McDonald's customers across the UK can get a free cheeseburger every time they visit the fast food chain by using a little-known trick that takes only a couple of minutes. The money-saving tip was shared by consumer expert Jordon Cox, who says diners can keep earning free food on future visits without signing up for a subscription or special promotion.
How the trick works
Mr Cox, known online as Britain's Coupon King, explained that customers can earn a voucher for a free cheeseburger every time they spend £5. The trick relies on McDonald's "Food For Thoughts" customer survey, which is printed at the top of restaurant receipts. Customers who complete the survey receive a voucher by email that can be redeemed the next time they spend £5 or more at McDonald's. The voucher can be used for a free cheeseburger, fries, or a McFlurry.
Unlimited free cheeseburgers
In a video posted on Instagram, Mr Cox said: "Every time you get a receipt, there's a survey at the top. Fill it out; it takes a few minutes. Once you do, you get a voucher for a free cheeseburger when you spend £5 or more. But here's the trick - when you claim the voucher, you get another receipt, so you can keep on doing it and get unlimited free cheeseburgers for as long as you come."
He also explained the idea in the video's caption, writing: "Unlimited FREE Cheeseburgers Hack at McDonald’s. There’s a way to get a free cheeseburger every time you eat there! When you get a McDonald’s receipt, have a look at the very top - it has a promotion called ‘Food For Thoughts’. It’s a survey that takes 2 minutes if you whizz through it and it gets you a voucher for a free cheeseburger (McFlurry or Fries) the next time you visit. The voucher comes through to your email, which you can use when you spend £5 or more. But HERE’S the trick - when you claim your free cheeseburger, you’ll get ANOTHER receipt… so you can repeat the process again. Conditions and reactions
Mr Cox also told followers in the comments that the voucher he received was valid until the end of the following month, giving customers plenty of time to use it on another visit. The offer does come with some conditions. Customers must spend at least £5 to redeem each voucher and can only claim one free item at a time, choosing between a cheeseburger, fries, or a McFlurry. However, because every qualifying purchase generates another receipt, diners can complete the survey again to earn another voucher for a future visit.
The tip divided opinion online, with some people arguing the food was not really free because customers still have to spend £5 to claim it. One person wrote: "Unlimited free cheeseburgers, but you have to spend £5 every time you want one." Another added: "It's not free if you've got to spend £5."
