Maxi-Cosi Baby Car Seat Recall Over Injury Risk to Children
Maxi-Cosi Baby Car Seat Recall Over Injury Risk

A critical product recall has been issued for a Maxi-Cosi baby car seat base, with the brand warning of a significant 'risk of injuries' to children due to a faulty safety indicator. Consumers are being urged to immediately cease using the affected product.

Recall Details

The recall, detailed on the Office for Product Safety and Standards (OPSS) website, targets all Family Fix Slide Pro Base seats. The core issue lies with a malfunctioning indicator designed to confirm correct installation, which could lead to the car seat detaching from its base.

'The product presents a risk of injuries because the indicator, which shows whether the seat is correctly fitted, may display ‘green’ even when the car seat is not fully attached to the base,' the OPSS recall information states. 'As a result, a user may believe the seat is properly connected when it is not. This could cause the seat to move or detach, potentially injuring the occupant.'

Non-Compliance and Manufacturing Details

The product has been deemed non-compliant with the General Product Safety Regulations 2005. Maxi-Cosi is recalling units manufactured in China between 6 September last year and 24 March 2026.

In a statement on its website, Maxi-Cosi said: 'Your child’s safety drives every decision we make at Maxi-Cosi, and in keeping with our deep dedication to you and your family, we want to make you aware of a voluntary recall affecting your product.' The company explained that a 'potential misuse scenario' involving the visual indicator was identified during recent user testing.

Action for Consumers

Customers are advised to check their product by entering the model reference and manufacturing date on the Maxi-Cosi website. The reference number should contain 10 digits, while the manufacturing date can be located on a white label found on the underside of the base.
