Emmerdale star Shebz Miah, who portrays Kammy Hadiq on the ITV soap, has hinted at the possibility of new family members joining the village following the revelation of Kammy's heartbreaking secret. In recent episodes, Kammy finally confessed to his girlfriend Belle Dingle about his estrangement from his family, after being accused of arson and taken into police custody.
Kammy's Hidden Past Unveiled
Viewers learned that Kammy had been homeless, secretly sleeping in a barn on Robert Sugden's farm. When police suspected him of being the arsonist, Kammy was forced to reveal the truth. In a devastating scene, he opened up about how his father's death sent him into a downward spiral. His sister tried to prevent him from getting into trouble, but she ended up in an accident involving a stolen car that Kammy had taken.
Kammy took the blame with the police and his family, fleeing his home because he believed he had failed his mother. Since then, he has been homeless and cut off all contact with his loved ones. Belle comforted him as he finally shared his turmoil and the reasons behind his departure.
Teasing New Arrivals and a Shake-Up
Could Kammy's sister or other relatives soon appear in the village? Shebz Miah certainly hopes so and teased this possibility in an interview with The Mirror. Calling for a "shake-up," he said: "We need a bit of spice and drama, you know? I think at the moment, it is obviously heavily orientated around the iconic families that Emmerdale has, which is completely fair and valid, but I think we do need something new to shake it up a bit."
He added: "With Kammy's introduction, obviously coming in and stealing the quad and getting up to mischief, I think there's a lot of unanswered questions, and I feel like all of that does stem from his upbringing and potential trauma, potential lost relationships, all sorts of stuff behind the mask. It's going to be exciting to actually uncover all of that. So, yeah, I'm super excited and I'm excited to see who they bring in and what happens."
Further Secrets Ahead
Explaining the twist involving Kammy's sister, Miah revealed: "The secret is that Kammy does take the rap. However, there are further consequences as well, as a result of this situation. There's a whole box of worms there. I don't know fully yet how accurate it is, but I do know it's teasing into something bigger." This suggests Kammy may still be hiding more about what truly happened.
