Shoppers at Lidl can still collect points and access offers even if they cannot open the Lidl Plus app at the till. Instead of scanning the app, customers can provide their registered mobile number as a backup method.
Lidl confirmed to the Mirror that using the Lidl Plus app is the only way for customers to unlock personalised rewards. However, if a customer cannot access the app at checkout, they can enter their phone number at the till to collect points and take advantage of Lidl Plus Offers.
How the backup method works
Personalised coupons must be activated in the app in order to be valid. Shoppers who use their mobile number as backup will still collect points and benefit from Lidl Plus Offers, provided they have activated any relevant coupons beforehand.
Using the Lidl Plus app
To get started, shoppers scan the Lidl Plus app at the checkout and collect Lidl points with every purchase (£1 = 1 point), which builds up automatically. Once points are earned, customers open the Lidl Plus app and go to the Rewards Marketplace, where they can choose from more than 100 rewards or money-off coupons.
When ready, points can be exchanged for a coupon, which must be activated in the app before using it in-store.
Digital receipts option
Shoppers can also switch to digital receipts to cut down on paper and avoid receipts piling up at home or in the car. Digital receipts are accessible in the app and are handy for returns, as customers do not need to hunt for a paper receipt.
To activate this, customers open the Lidl Plus app, tap their Lidl Plus card, and select “Activate Digital Receipts Only.”
