Jet2 Reassures Families: Children Under 8 Must Sit With Adults
Jet2: Kids Under 8 Must Sit With Accompanying Adult

Jet2 has issued a clear message to passengers travelling with young children, reaffirming that those under the age of eight must be seated next to an accompanying adult. The airline addressed the policy after a concerned parent reached out on social media.

Passenger's Inquiry

A passenger named Sophie contacted Jet2 on X, formerly Twitter, to ask about the airline's seating policy for young children. She explained that her family had booked a holiday through a travel agent and, upon checking in, discovered they were seated separately. With a three-year-old child in their party, Sophie sought clarification on whether the airline would ensure the child was not left alone.

Sophie wrote: 'What is your policy about letting a three-year-old sit on their own? We booked our holiday last night with a travel agent and checked in today and we are all sat separately. Is it likely they will ask someone to swap with my son so he’s not alone?'

Jet2's Response

A member of Jet2's social media team promptly responded, offering reassurance. The reply stated: 'Hi Sophie, children under the age of eight must be sat with their accompanying adult. If you are unable to amend your seats to sit next to each other, our friendly check-in team at the airport will be able to amend this for you. If you have any questions, please do send us a DM.'

Sophie thanked the team and noted that only single seats or extra legroom seats were available, which her child could not use. She expressed hope that the issue would be resolved at the airport. Jet2's team replied again, confirming: 'Not to worry Sophie, our friendly check in team will be able to assist you with this.'

Official Guidance

Jet2's website provides detailed information for families. The airline advises: 'We would encourage you to pre-book your seats in advance to ensure you reserve the seats you want for your travelling party. You can do this when you book or by visiting Manage My Booking. If any member of your travelling party has any assisted travel requirements, please refer to our Assisted Travel and Medical FAQs.'

The airline adds: 'As a family-friendly airline we will make every effort to seat families together. We will try to seat children under 12 next to an accompanying adult, however, we may only be able to arrange this at the airport or on board if you have not pre-booked seats.'

Customer Feedback

On TrustPilot, Jet2 holds an excellent rating, with many families praising the airline's accommodating staff. One parent shared: 'We travelled with our toddler from NCL to ALC, and the staff were extremely accommodating by allowing us to use a free row of seats. We had paid to sit together, but the flight wasn't full, so we asked if we could use one of the free rows. This made what could have been a challenging flight really comfortable for all concerned. Thanks Jet2.com flight crew.'

Another reviewer commented: 'Excellent flight, staff are fabulous and really went the extra mile when I was travelling alone with my toddler, I was very grateful.'
