Popular ice cream brand Straus Family Creamery has issued a voluntary recall of several Organic Super Premium Ice Cream products across 17 US states due to possible contamination with metal fragments. The company has urged consumers not to eat the affected products and to dispose of them immediately.

The recall affects selected tubs of Vanilla Bean, Strawberry, Cookie Dough, Dutch Chocolate, and Mint Chip ice cream. These products were distributed to retailers from May 4 and can be identified by specific 'best by' dates printed on the base of the containers.

The recall spans 17 states including California, Florida, Texas, New Jersey, and Washington. The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) confirmed that no injuries or illnesses have been reported to date.

Straus Family Creamery, based in California, stated that the recall was initiated 'out of an abundance of caution.' The company is working with retailers to remove the products from shelves. Customers who purchased the affected items are advised not to return them to stores but to dispose of them. Replacement vouchers can be obtained via the company's recall website.
