Gü Blonde Chocolate Cheesecake Recalled Over Hazelnut Allergy Risk

Gü Indulgent Foods is recalling its Blonde Chocolate Cheesecake after some packs were mispacked with a product containing hazelnuts, which are not declared on the label. The recall applies to 82g twin packs with batch code 226044 and a use-by date of March 12, 2026.

The Food Standards Agency (FSA) has issued an Allergy Alert, warning customers with a hazelnut allergy not to eat the product and to return it to the store for a full refund, no receipt required. For further information, consumers can contact recall@gupuds.com.

Hazelnut allergy is one of the most common nut allergies in the UK, affecting both adults and children. According to the FSA, approximately 6% of UK adults (around 2.4 million) have a clinically confirmed food allergy, with tree nuts including hazelnuts among the top triggers.

Allergic reactions to hazelnuts can range from mild oral symptoms (often linked to birch pollen allergy) to life-threatening anaphylaxis. Those with a primary hazelnut allergy are advised to carry an adrenaline auto-injector at all times and avoid even trace amounts of hazelnuts.

The FSA advises that anyone who has purchased the affected product and has a hazelnut allergy should not consume it and should return it for a refund.
