Fonmon Castle in the Vale of Glamorgan has reduced its children's entry price to 87p per ticket on weekdays this summer. Under-threes can enter for free. Adult tickets cost £10, and both prices are subject to a £1 booking fee. Tickets can be booked online or in person, though gate prices are higher.
What the Ticket Includes
The ticket grants access to the dinosaur attraction, a Medieval Village, a Welsh story trail, a fairy village, the castle itself, and multiple play areas. The dinosaur experience features large models set in acres of woodland, interactive dig pits, and educational facts. The Medieval Village offers archery and axe throwing, Iron Age learning, and a playground, complete with stocks for misbehaving visitors.
Additional Attractions
Visitors can explore a Welsh story trail and a fairy garden. The castle building is open to the public. A free kids' stamp trail runs over the summer: children collect stamps as they explore, and those with completed maps receive a treat upon leaving. The site has picnic spots, a cafe, and is dog-friendly. Most areas are pram-friendly.
History of Fonmon Castle
The fortified castle, named after the nearby village of Fonmon, dates from Norman times. It belonged to just one family for 360 years until 2019, when Nigel Ford became the owner, taking over from Sir Brooke Boothby, a baronet who had lived there for three decades.
