Delivery company Evri has urged customers to divert parcels to a local ParcelShop or locker before going on holiday to avoid missed deliveries. The service recommends this option for those away for a prolonged period, as it prevents parcels from getting damp or cluttering shared hallways.
ParcelShop and locker options
ParcelShops will hold deliveries securely for ten days with no extra charge, making them ideal for week-long breaks. Lockers hold parcels for up to three days but offer more flexibility, such as sharing the collection QR code with a trusted friend.
Expert advice
Henry Cartwright, Director of ParcelShops and Lockers at Evri Group, said: "No one wants to come back from holiday to find they've had to rely on neighbours for weeks. The good news is that avoiding missed deliveries is easier than many people realise."
"Customers can divert parcels to a local ParcelShop or locker in just a few taps, giving them greater control and peace of mind while they're away. At Evri, we're focused on making deliveries fit around real life and how people live today, providing more choice and flexibility so customers can receive every parcel, every way."
Jane Hawkes, Consumer Champion and Travel Expert, added: "We spend so much time planning our holidays that it's easy to forget about deliveries that might arrive while we're away. I'm pleased to see Evri encouraging customers to make use of the delivery options available before they travel."
"Taking just a couple of minutes to update your delivery preferences could make all the difference, leaving you free to relax and enjoy your holiday with greater peace of mind."
Additional options
Evri has more than 12,500 locations nationwide, allowing customers to choose a location near their home or even near the airport. Other options include real-time diversions to reroute an out-for-delivery parcel or nominating a safe place such as a shed, porch or garage. Accessibility preferences can also be added, such as requesting more time to get to the door.
