Dunkin' is set to launch its viral 48-ounce cold beverage buckets nationwide this Friday, May 22, just in time for Memorial Day Weekend. The coffee chain confirmed to USA Today that participating stores across the United States will offer the oversized containers while supplies last.
The Beverage Buckets, featuring a unique lid and straw, were initially tested in February at select locations in Massachusetts and New Hampshire. During that trial run, customers could purchase a coffee bucket starting at $8.99 or a refresher for $9.49. Now, the buckets return as the largest drink size available, priced at $12.99 for either iced coffee or refresher.
Each participating store will have only 25 buckets available. Once purchased, the collectible containers cannot be refilled at Dunkin' locations. The Independent has contacted a Dunkin' representative for comment.
Many Dunkin' customers expressed excitement over the news on social media. One Instagram user wrote, "YESSS YES YESSSSSS I WAS WAITING FOR THIS!!!!!!" Another joked, "I can't wait to show up to my therapy session with this." A third added, "This is incredible, looking forward to trying this." A fourth quipped, "Sign me up for an iced coffee bucket anxiety attack." When the buckets first rolled out in New England in February, some customers were thrilled at the prospect of massive caffeine intake, while others were frustrated by the limited release.
The massive bucket is not the only new offering at Dunkin'. As part of its summer menu release last month, the retailer joined the dirty soda trend with the Dunkin' Dirty Soda, combining Pepsi, coffee milk, and sweet cold foam. The summer menu also includes a line of Black Cherry refreshers and an Oreo-themed lineup of espresso, matcha, and frozen drinks.
In January, Dunkin' tapped into the viral protein craze by launching its first Protein Milk, described in a press release as "a simple way to add protein to the drinks they already love." Packed with 15 grams of protein per medium-sized beverage, the special milk aims to offer a "creamy, familiar taste without a chalky texture or aftertaste." Dunkin' also introduced a lineup of protein-packed drinks, including a Strawberry Protein Refresher, Caramel Chocolate Iced Protein Latte, Almond Iced Protein Matcha Latte, and Iced Protein Latte with Sugar-Free Vanilla.
