Arsenal captain Martin Odegaard has reaffirmed his commitment to the club, stating he wants to remain at the Emirates Stadium for "many years" despite the heartbreak of losing the Champions League final to Paris Saint-Germain on penalties.
Odegaard's Stance on His Future
The Norway international, who has two years left on his contract this summer, has faced questions over his future due to a season marred by injury and inconsistent form. However, in the aftermath of the Champions League final and the Premier League title triumph, Odegaard made it clear he sees his long-term future in north London.
"There is nothing to say at the moment, I am under contract here and really happy here and hopefully I can stay many years," Odegaard said.
Champions League Final Reflections
Odegaard was substituted in the second half of the final in Budapest, which Arsenal lost 4-3 on penalties after a 1-1 draw. He admitted it was difficult to watch the conclusion from the sidelines.
"Small margins decide a game like this. That is the reality of football and we have to deal with it," he said. "I thought we started the game really well, we got the first goal and after that I thought we defended really well. Obviously PSG had the ball a lot, didn't really create anything and then a penalty of course they got their goal."
He added: "It is tough to watch from the sides of course, small margins and you want to win it so bad and to end up with nothing is brutal. Again, that's part of football and still we have done some incredible things this season and we get this close and we will come again next year."
Looking Ahead
Despite the disappointment, Odegaard remains optimistic about Arsenal's future. "Last year we got to the semis, this year to the final and it is just a shame we couldn't win it so hopefully next year we can go one step further and go on and do it," he concluded.
