Drivers save 6p per litre with free Esso Card deal

Blue Light Card holders can save up to 6p per litre on fuel by taking advantage of a free Esso Card, a deal that could cut £3.30 off a typical 55-litre tank fill. The offer comes as UK motorists face average petrol prices just below 175p per litre and diesel just under £2 per litre after recent all-time highs.

How the Esso Card discount works

The Blue Light Card, which costs £4.99 for two years, provides offers and savings on up to 30 brands for those working in the emergency services, NHS, social care, armed forces, or in teaching. Holders can get a free Esso Card, with the usual £43 annual fee waived.

Esso Card users can save between 3p and 6p per litre on selected Esso Synergy fuels at participating stores. At the maximum 6p discount on Synergy Supreme Diesel, filling a typical 55-litre tank could save £3.30, and over five fill-ups that amounts to £16.50.

Where the card is accepted

The Esso Card is valid at up to 3,600 national sites, including 110 motorway locations, over 1,170 HGV sites, and 2,400 24-hour stops, according to Esso.

Steffie Brader, deals expert at Blue Light Card, said: “Fuel prices can vary between nearby stations, so comparing prices before filling up can help you find a cheaper option.” She added that members can also get 10% off MOTs at Kwik Fit, helping make an important annual check more affordable.
