Car.co.uk Plunges into Administration Two Years After Launch

Car.co.uk, an online vehicle scrapping platform, has entered administration just two years after its incorporation, marking a significant blow to the UK motoring industry. Administrators were appointed on July 14, 2026, and a statement was published in the London Gazette on July 20, 2026. The company, headquartered on Liverpool Road, Longton, Preston, has not yet confirmed any job losses.

Administrators Appointed

Mark Colman and Megan Singleton of Leonard Curtis have been appointed as joint administrators. According to Companies House, Car.co.uk was first incorporated in April 2024, meaning it had only just celebrated its second anniversary before entering administration.

The business specialized in buying, scrapping, and recycling end-of-life vehicles. Its online platform allowed motorists to obtain an instant scrap valuation, promising the best possible price backed by live market data and an owned network of scrap depots and trade buyers.

Services and Guarantees

Car.co.uk offered same-day or next-day collection across the UK with instant payment, guaranteeing prices online. The company stated it would purchase any vehicle regardless of condition, providing a hassle-free disposal process. Once a car was collected, the company issued a Certificate of Destruction, legal proof that the vehicle was responsibly processed at a licensed Authorised Treatment Facility.

In a previous statement, Car.co.uk explained: “Right now, an unwanted car sitting on your drive is a depreciating asset. And with running costs, insurance and the general cost of living where they are, the best time to turn it into cash is sooner rather than later. Car.co.uk makes that process as frictionless as it gets.”

Impact on Customers

Examples of scrap valuations on the website included £194 for a 2010 Vauxhall Corsa Sxi, £215 for a 2003 Ford Fiesta Zetec, and £260 for a 2005 Volkswagen Golf GT. The Express has contacted Car.co.uk for comment regarding the administration and any ongoing customer services.
