Burger King has announced significant changes to its iconic Whopper, marking the first major update to the burger in a decade. The revamp, inspired by customer feedback, aims to deliver a higher-quality experience, including a more premium bun and improved toppings.
The Whopper will now be served in a box rather than wrapped in paper, ensuring it arrives intact. The burger retains its quarter-pound flame-grilled beef patty but features a better-tasting mayonnaise, along with freshly cut onions, tomatoes, crisp lettuce, and tangy pickles.
Tom Curtis, President of Burger King U.S. & Canada, stated: 'The Whopper is an icon, so we didn’t set out to reinvent it. Instead, we elevated it based on direct Guest feedback.' The updated Whopper is now available nationwide.
The move comes just days before McDonald's launches its largest burger ever in the U.S., the Big Arch, on March 3. The limited-time offering features two quarter-pound beef patties, three slices of cheese, onions, pickles, lettuce, and a tangy sauce on a sesame and poppy seed bun.
McDonald's global chief restaurant experience officer, Jill McDonald, noted that the Big Arch has shown strong traction in test markets, including Canada and Europe, and is already a permanent menu item in the U.K. and Ireland. A Big Arch meal with fries and a drink costs about C$12.59 (roughly $9), though U.S. pricing has not been confirmed.
