A budget washing-up spray from Home Bargains has outperformed the more expensive Fairy Liquid Skip The Soak in a head-to-head air fryer cleaning test, according to a senior lifestyle reporter.
Angela Patrone, who writes for the Express and Mirror, tested both products on identical air fryer baskets after cooking chicken. She applied 10 sprays to each basket, left them for 10 minutes, then wiped with a sponge.
The Elbow Grease washing-up spray, priced at around £1.19, removed all grease in a single pass. After rinsing, no marks remained. In contrast, the Fairy spray, costing about £3.99, required more effort and left some greasy patches visible after rinsing.
Patrone noted that the Elbow Grease spray also had a more pleasant scent, while the Fairy alternative had a strong chemical smell. Both products cut through grease, but the budget option was the clear winner in terms of performance and value.
