Deliveroo data has revealed that orders of Aperol surge by nearly 400% on the delivery platform once temperatures reach 16°C. The findings suggest that Britons do not require a heatwave to embrace summer drinking habits.
The most popular cities for Aperol orders are London and Manchester, followed by Brighton, Camberley and Crawley. Deliveroo also recorded a 40% increase in orders for 'Picky Bits' — items such as dips, houmous, sausage rolls, olives and savoury pastries — when the temperature climbs to 18°C.
Dips proved the most popular category, with houmous leading as the nation's favourite, ahead of cream cheese and chive, guacamole and tzatziki. Popular accompaniments include sausage rolls, olives, savoury pastries, antipasti, breadsticks and charcuterie.
Suzy McClintock, Deliveroo's Vice President of Consumer and New Verticals, said: "We've found that Brits don't need a heatwave to catch those summer feelings; just a glimpse of sunshine is enough to send Aperol orders through the roof." She added that the company is ready to deliver summer essentials in as little as 20 minutes.
Customers can order Aperol and Picky Bits via Deliveroo from supermarkets including Sainsbury's, Co-op, Waitrose and Morrisons.
