Travel Editor's Verdict: Antler Heritage Trunk Delivers Style and Durability

Antler, the British luggage brand founded in 1914, has launched its Heritage collection, featuring a trunk inspired by 1950s design. The Independent's assistant travel editor, Hayley Spencer, tested the large trunk on a trip to South Korea and praised its combination of form and function.

The trunk features reinforced aluminium corners, a rounded telescopic handle for comfort, and a boxier, tall shape that allows it to glide upright. Available in sandstone, navy, or forest green, Spencer opted for the green to match her carry-on. Inside, two compression straps and an opaque envelope pocket helped flatten 10 days of clothes, while a zippable compartment with a sheer pocket stored K-beauty purchases.

Despite weighing 21kg, the case was manageable to lift and easy to manoeuvre between cabs and trains, even with a large hand luggage bag on top. The lock system, replacing a zip, felt secure and sleek. A branded laundry bag was a useful addition.

Spencer's only criticism was the lack of a divide in the sheer zip pocket to prevent items shifting during travel. Nevertheless, she concluded that the trunk's durability, style, and practicality have confirmed Antler as her forever favourite luggage brand. The Heritage collection comes with a lifetime guarantee.
