£150 Warm Home Discount for DWP benefit households expanded
£150 Warm Home Discount expanded to six million households

The Warm Home Discount scheme has been expanded to cover around six million households, up from three million previously. Eligible households include those receiving Universal Credit, Pension Credit, Employment and Support Allowance, and Housing Benefit.

The one-off £150 discount is applied directly by energy suppliers between November and January, reducing electricity bills. The Government states: "The Warm Home Discount Scheme is a one-off £150 discount off your electricity bill."

How the discount is applied

The discount is provided either as an energy credit on accounts or as a top-up voucher, depending on how customers pay their bills. This is intended to give low-income residents financial relief during peak energy usage periods.

Changes in eligibility

Under new Labour rules, everyone on Universal Credit receives the help, whereas only some qualified under the previous system.
