Shoppers across the UK have been urged to check their homes for recalled products announced this month. The recalls range from desk fans to pasta salads to toy trains, and are put in place to protect the public, as the products involved could cause harm to consumers. Recall notices are also posted at the point of purchase.
If you think you may have one of the following on your shelf at home, return it to the point of purchase for a full refund.
Home Bargains Recalls Toy Story Bottle and Crisps
Home Bargains is at the heart of two recalls this month. The first is a TJ Morris Toy Story Water Bottle, with model number 75164. The Office for Product Safety and Standards said: "The product presents a choking hazard because the spout can detach from the lid, creating a small part. If this occurs during use, the spout may block a child’s airway and cause them to choke."
The product does not meet the requirements of the General Product Safety Regulations 2005 and has been recalled from end users by Home Bargains. "We recommend that you stop using the product immediately and keep it out of reach of young children. Return it to your nearest Home Bargains for a refund," the retailer advised.
The second recall involves Lay's Sour Cream & Dill Crisps (125g). Affected products have a Best Before date up to and including October 31, 2026. The FSA says: "The product contains milk and wheat (gluten), making it a possible health risk for anyone with an allergy or intolerance to milk or milk constituents, wheat or gluten, or with coeliac disease."
In its warning notice, Home Bargains said: "ASR Solutions Ltd is recalling Lay's Sour Cream & Dill Crisps 125g sold through Home Bargains stores as the product contains milk and wheat which is not mentioned on the label. This means this product is a possible health risk to anyone with an allergy or intolerance to milk and wheat."
Tesco and Asda Issue Food and Toy Recalls
Tesco has recalled its Finest Mozzarella Pearl & Pesto Orzo Salad, specifically those with a use by date of August 25, August 26 or August 27. In the FSA notice, Tesco bosses said: "Tesco is recalling Tesco Finest Mozzarella Pearls & Pesto Orzo Salad 215g, because of possible contamination with E. coli (STEC)."
Symptoms caused by STEC organisms include severe diarrhoea with or without blood in the stool, abdominal pain, vomiting, dehydration and sometimes haemolytic uremic syndrome (HUS), a serious condition that can lead to kidney failure and can be fatal. The notice continues: "If you have bought the above product do not eat it. Instead, return it to any Tesco store for a full refund."
Asda has recalled the Hapello Power Train, sold between August 2024 and February 2026. A full refund will be provided to anyone who brings back the item affected - a receipt is not needed. In its warning notice, Asda said: "We have found that in some cases this product may release the orange steam dome from the top of the train, which could pose as a small part choking hazard. We have taken the decision to recall the product."
M&S, B&Q and Supermarket Pasta Salads Recalled
Marks and Spencer has been forced to recall a blue tinted jug with painted leaf decorations amid warnings that the glass may break during use. In its warning notice, M&S explained: "We have identified a potential safety issue with this product as there is a risk of glass breakage resulting in injury. We recommend that you stop using this product immediately."
A massive recall was issued earlier this month, with pasta salads from Asda and Morrisons affected. Asda's Nacho Cheese and Cheese & Tomato pasta salad dishes and Morrisons' Chicken & Bacon pasta were all recalled. Greencore, the company that produces pasta meals for supermarkets, is recalling three pasta products due to possible Listeria monocytogenes contamination. Pasta pots with use-by dates from the 7th-10th of August were the only products affected.
B&Q is impacted by recalls this month regarding a table fan sold by the retailer. Sharing the alert, the Office for Product Safety and Standards said: "The product presents a risk of electric shock and fire as there is a fault within the oscillation mechanism that can damage internal wiring. The product does not meet the requirements of the Electrical Equipment (Safety) Regulations 2016." The item affected is white and 9ins in size, on sale between March 2026 and July 2026. Batch numbers are: 25W50, 26W05, 26W11.
The Food Standards Agency released a recall notice on Friday, August 21, for a small number of wraps from Summit Foods over a "possible contamination" with E.coli (STEC). The recall is for wraps sold in England, Scotland and Wales. Affected products include the Snacksters Chicken Fajita Wrap, the Snacksters Hoi Sin Wrap, the East Street Deli Sweet Chilli Chicken Wrap and the Target a Snack Chicken Fajita Wrap, all with dates up to and including September 5, 2026.
