Revolut apologises as some customer balances may be incorrect

Revolut has apologised to customers and explained why some balances may be incorrect after a recent service disruption.

The company said the glitch was due to a Google Cloud outage on Tuesday, October 20. In emails to customers, Revolut said: "We want to reassure you that your funds and data are safe, and remained secure for the duration of this disruption. The issue was resolved on the same day and Revolut is working as normal. If you made a card transaction during the disruption, including a card refund, it may take a few days for your balance to update and the transaction to appear in your account."

Revolut added that it is "working to process these transactions as quickly as possible". Moving to further reassure customers, it said it is "prioritising improvements to customer experience in instances like these", adding: "If you have any questions or outstanding issues, our support team is available 24/7 via our in-app chat."

Revolut is thought to have around 13 million customers across the UK. The Google Cloud failure also impacted Lloyds and HSBC customers, who were unable to pay or move money for a period of time on Tuesday.
