The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) has provided an update on a "one-off payment" for some Personal Independence Payment (PIP) claimants. Those interested must fill in an online form, with a deadline of Friday, August 21.
PIP review roundtable events
People are being invited to participate in roundtable events scheduled for September and October as part of the ongoing review of PIP. The study, led by DWP minister Sir Stephen Timms, is examining various issues and how to reform the benefit to better suit the current age and the needs of disabled people and those with long-term health conditions.
PIP provides different levels of financial support to help cover the extra costs incurred by individuals with a long-term health condition or disability.
One-off payment for participants
As part of the review, a series of workshops are taking place over the coming weeks to gather the views and experiences of current PIP claimants and others with long-term health conditions or disabilities. A government document inviting people to take part states: "Participants will receive a one-off payment in recognition of attendance and reimbursement of reasonable travel expenses."
The DWP was asked how much these payments will be. The group responded that they will share more details with participants about "remuneration" ahead of the workshops. The workshops are intended to reach people in different parts of the country, with some held in person and others online.
