The summer transfer window has intensified as Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester United, Liverpool, and Tottenham work on significant deals on the same day the new Premier League season begins. Arsenal are finalising the £51 million signing of Ezri Konsa and have also acquired Manchester United pair James Scanlon and Habeeb Ogunneye. Atletico Madrid have reportedly decided to sell Julian Alvarez, while Kenan Yildiz remains of interest.
Manchester United are close to signing Carlos Baleba to complete their midfield revamp and may next target left-sided defender Edmond Tapsoba. Chelsea are bracing for a new Manchester City bid for Enzo Fernandez and could sell Pedro Neto and Tosin Adarabioyo, having beaten Barcelona to the signing of Alfie Osborne.
Liverpool are reconsidering Ibrahim Mbaye amid slow progress in talks for Bradley Barcola and have seen a bid for Yankuba Minteh rejected. Tottenham have agreed an £85 million deal for Savinho, and Omar Marmoush is expected to be next as Manchester City turn to Adam Wharton, Allan, and Manu Kone.
Liverpool Bid Rejected for Yankuba Minteh
Liverpool have had a bid rejected by Brighton for Yankuba Minteh. The Reds lodged the offer, worth £50 million, several days ago, according to The Athletic's David Ornstein. Liverpool are looking to strengthen their front three depth after the departure of Mohamed Salah on a free transfer upon the expiry of his contract. Bradley Barcola is top of their wishlist, but negotiations with Paris Saint-Germain are dragging on.
Tottenham Agree £85m Savinho Deal
Tottenham have agreed an £85 million deal with Manchester City to sign Savinho. According to widespread reports, the agreement includes a guaranteed £75 million, with a further £10 million in potential add-ons. Savinho is now expected to undergo a medical before completing his move to north London. Spurs face a race against time to get Savinho registered before 12pm to make him eligible for a debut against Brentford tomorrow evening.
Why Arsenal Have Moved for Ezri Konsa
Mikel Arteta has explained why Arsenal moved to sign Ezri Konsa, with the defender's arrival from Aston Villa close to being made official. Arsenal agreed a fee of £51 million plus add-ons for the 28-year-old, and he was at the club's training ground on Thursday to undergo a medical. Konsa is not expected to be involved in the squad against Coventry in the Premier League opener, but his debut could come against his former club at Villa Park a week later. Arsenal have prioritised bringing in a right-sided defender over the last couple of weeks. There was always a desire to do so this summer, but the long-term injury to William Saliba and Jurrien Timber's continued absence intensified those efforts. While Arteta stopped short of confirming Konsa will be joining the Gunners, he did emphasise how much the club needed to strengthen in that area of the pitch.
Other Key Transfer Updates
Manchester United have added Barcelona's Alejandro Balde to their list of transfer targets this summer. The Red Devils are in the market for a left-back having shored up their midfield with two signings and one imminent arrival.
Everton are tracking the development of Como winger Assane Diao, according to Teamtalk. The forward is thought to be available for around €60 million this month, with Cesc Fabregas' side looking to free up space in their squad for more additions.
Teamtalk also claims that Arsenal have no intention of selling Ben White this summer despite interest from several clubs. Everton are among his main Premier League admirers, while Inter Milan had also explored a move before pursuing Djed Spence. White is expected to stay.
Fabrizio Romano reports that Arthur Melo is set to leave Juventus. The Brazilian will have his contract terminated at the Allianz Stadium.
AFC Wimbledon skipper Jake Reeves has left Plough Lane to join Barnet on loan. The midfielder's contract in south-west London expires at the end of the campaign, and the club have communicated that it will not be renewed when he returns from his spell at The Hive.
Savinho is closing in on a move to Tottenham, according to Eduardo Borges. Spurs will reportedly pay £85 million for the winger, and they are still trying to land Omar Marmoush as well from Manchester City.
Valencia have confirmed the signing of Pablo Maffeo. The right-back, formerly of Manchester City, was previously at Olympiacos.
